The Emmanuel Church, UK

We believe that every person has a purpose, a destiny and a calling, however, it lies dormant and unfulfilled due to sinful living. Nevertheless, this destiny, calling and purpose can and will be realised by getting to know Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour. TEC, UK believes in discipling new believers to grow and be grounded in their new found faith, and also raising and training the next generation of leaders, who will move on to fulfil their God-given calling and destiny in their life. TEC, UK is a young, growing and vibrant church. We have ministered to people from over 30 different nations, ranging from South and Central America to Africa, South East Asia and Russia in the North. TEC, UK has helped groups abroad and at the moment is working with a satellite church based in Moscow, Russia. TEC, UK is working in partnership with ministries that share the same calling of preaching salvation, spiritual freedom and healing into the lives of our communities, with the demonstration of the power of the Holy Spirit. With this, our hope and prayer, is to see the believer and the church live a victorious life and expand into new territories by preaching the Gospel. May God bless you and help you in your quest for a truly, spiritually fulfilling life. The Emmanuel Church, UK

About Us - Founders

The Emmanuel Church, UK (TEC, UK) started out a number of years ago when Pr. Giovanni started attending a deliverance ministry and saw the difference deliverance was making in his life. With the new found spiritual authority that comes with true spiritual freedom, Pr. Giovanni started to witness and minister to other Christian friends about his experience. These brethren soon started to attend the ministry as they recognised the need and had a desire for a deeper and spiritual life experience. As the ministry catered more to brethren with an African background and culture, it was decided, in 2003, to form The European Bible Study Group (a home cell), where European (people born in Europe, with a European upbringing and mentality, irrespective of race or colour) brethren attending the ministry could have more personal and gentle exposure to charismatic manifestations of the Holy Spirit, bringing salvation, and spiritual and physical healing into their lives and families. The Bishop acknowledged this Bible study group as something that European brethren needed, as its approach could be more easily received by a European audience. In 2006, after Pr. Giovanni searched the Lord’s will about his future, the Bishop approached him to spearhead a European branch of the ministry, as the Bishop recognised that European brethren needed a church relating to their culture, background and upbringing. In his godly wisdom, the Bishop recognised that European brethren found it hard to integrate into a church that did things in African style, for example, attending church services that were anything between 5 to 7 hours long. Therefore, on the 16th of December 2006, The Emmanuel Church, UK (TEC, UK) was born out of The European Bible Study Group, with the Bishop’s blessing and approval. The church has now been functioning continuously since then. Even though a young church, it is now established and growing continually. We have also had various prophetic voices minister to us, even from as far afield as South Africa. We take great joy in the fact that TEC, UK is made up of many different nationalities and races. For all those people who regard themselves as European or just simply would like to reach Europe and the world for Jesus, we say: “Come and join us at The Emmanuel Church, UK –there is a special place for you.” The Emmanuel Church, UK

About Us - History

Pr. Giovanni Ghidotti accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Saviour at the age of 24, after growing disillusioned and finding no meaning in a life of abuse of drugs and alcohol. All the while he was looking for acceptance and love from women, yet found himself in a meaningless, vicious circle, with nothing that could fill the vacuum and emptiness he felt in his life. After military service, he began an even deeper search for a reason to live. He travelled to different countries until when in 1995 he came to England. Soon after, he was exposed to the true Gospel for the first time. Accordingly, he accepted the free gift of salvation and he began studying the Bible full-time at CICM “Centre of International Christian Ministry”, based in London. During this time, he realised that there was a discrepancy between early Christianity and today’s Christianity. The next five years of his spiritual life were spent in searching for a church that was operating as in the Acts of the Apostles; a church that could demonstrate God-given authority by healing the sick, casting out evil spirits (deliverance), and preaching the Word of God with uncompromising conviction. It was at this time, when the Bishop saw the calling of God upon his life and ordained and anointed him as a minister. Not long after this, Pr. Giovanni met and ministered into the life of Sister Soula, which led to their engagement and wedding within a year. Sister Soula, who came from a very religious background, opened herself up to the Lord at a young age and, after a tragic accident took a family member, gave her life to Jesus at the age of 16. Despite rejection and misunderstanding by her own family and relatives for her faith (“I did not come to bring peace but a sword. A man’s enemies will be those of his own household.”) (Matthew 10: 34), she made a decision to follow the Christ she had come to know as her personal Saviour. Sr. Soula also felt that she had a calling to serve the Lord and that was her desire. Through six years of intense training, discipline by the Lord and desert experiences, the Holy Spirit kept on giving her prophetic words of wanting to use her in His service and confirmations of being a Pastor’s wife. During this time of spiritual drought, it was her constant prayer and cry out to God, for a revival, for the fire of the Holy Spirit and for God to move with miracles, signs and wonders as in the first church. In her mind, she could not understand why when “Jesus Christ, is the same yesterday, today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8), that she could not see the miracles and healings as the apostles did in the early church. Both Pr. Giovanni and Sr. Soula have an intense desire and a deep passion to see the present generation repent and return to the Lord and for the Glory of the Lord to settle upon His people and for believers to be and move freely in the Spirit through deliverance, for “Whom the Son sets free, is truly free indeed!” (John 8:36). Through deliverance and spiritual healing, nations can be restored and move forward in power and His Presence. Their second, and yet most important desire, “is to consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus their Lord and the power of His resurrection… that they may gain Christ.” (Philippians 3:7, 8, paraphrased)

Evangelism

The Emmanuel Church, UK believes that evangelism is an important and central part of church life. Putting it simply: it’s what Jesus told us to do!! That’s why as a church we regularly send out a team of people to spread the good word of the Lord. His last words were the beginning... the beginning of our mission here on earth. “And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15) In a world that is ever falling into darkness, God is looking for His people to get mobilised and take the spreading of the gospel seriously. Churches are filled with Christians with voices, but have been silenced by the hustle and bustle of the world, and their own indifference. People need the Lord Jesus Christ, but have no idea about Him. “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!’” (Romans 10:14, 15) The good thing about evangelism is that we don’t have to do it alone. Jesus sent His disciples in pairs.....and they lacked NOTHING. Our volunteers go out in a group, and always come back unified by their joyous mood. Much assistance is given by the dedicated prayer team that stays behind and helps clear the paths for us to go into the streets and do God’s work. Certainly, we could do nothing if it wasn’t for the Holy Spirit Whom we put our trust in, and is the real motivator behind our willingness, our joy and our strength. We are always well received by the public, have touched the lives of people and have made many friends, confirming that God is with us. You never know just what God is doing when you go out. Just by speaking God’s Word to people you are bringing light into their lives, and giving hope for their future. “And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the LORD God of your fathers hath given you.” (Joshua 18:3) There is a spiritual land in people’s hearts, which God wants to possess. Once that spiritual land is occupied by God we can start to reclaim the physical land, and then we can really start to fulfil scripture that says “on earth as it is in heaven”. This is our calling as children of God. You are all welcome to join us. Come and take your place in fulfilling the Great Commission. “I must work the works of Him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” (John 9:4) TEC, UK Evangelism Team

Fellowship

True Christian fellowship involves getting together for spiritual purposes: for discussing needs, prayer, and sharing the Word of God to encourage, comfort, and edify one another. During fellowship people share their news and testimonies and give advice. As the church is a “spiritual hospital”, people come with their problems, needs and hurts. Whether we see it or not, every day we face situations where we meet someone who needs encouragement, help or a listening ear. Christian fellowship is just that time where those needs are met. The Lord gave us the task to care and to love each other. Also, in 1Thessalonians (5:11) we are instructed: “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up...” Moreover, in Galatians (6:1-2) we are given clear instruction: “Carry each other`s burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ”. We, in The Emmanuel Church, UK strongly believe and encourage fellowship after every service. The church provides refreshments, such as tea or coffee, snacks, and sometimes, buffet food, depending on the occasion. During this time people feel more relaxed and may ask the Pastor to pray for them individually. This process is very helpful and fruitful as the newcomers find it easier to open their hearts. The Emmanuel Church, UK members are friendly people and committed to helping and encouraging each other and visitors of the church. Please feel free to visit us and use the opportunity to ask any questions related to God and religion in this relaxed, informal and friendly atmosphere. TEC, UK Hospitality Team

Kidz Chapel

Kidz Chapel is a very important part of The Emmanuel Church, UK ministry. We aim to make a difference in the lives of children. We believe that children are a gift from God, which needs to be cherished. “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. As arrows are in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one's youth. Happy, blessed, and fortunate is the man whose quiver is filled with them!” (Psalm 127: 2-4 NKJV) We understand how important is the early influence in the lives of our future leaders, evangelists, preachers, teachers and parents to become. The time that we can work on their characters is very short and we need to use it with the best of our abilities. We need to teach them God’s principles and to equip them for their adult life. “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22: 6 NKJV) We teach the group of up to fifteen children, with ages ranging from twenty months to fourteen years old. Children attend the main service for worship and then go to the Kidz Chapel classroom. Lessons last between one to two hours, during sermon time. Kidz Chapel is following the syllabus of ‘Discipleship Junction’ written by Sheila Seifert, during which time we keep the children preoccupied with stories, writing activities, plays, song preparations and games. We also ensure that children have frequent breaks between the activities. One such break is the Snack Zone, which includes healthy snacks and drinks, but which also encompasses a crafts activity, using the food ingredients, and relating it to the lesson completed. All these activities and food are provided for free to the children by the church. Moreover, all the members working with the children have Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) Checks for peace of mind and to ensure the safety of the children at all times. One of our ministering teachers is also a certified First Aider. Kidz Chapel Teachers: Children’s Pastor & Lead Teacher - Mrs. Soula Sitaras-Ghidotti We are dedicated to fulfill our Lord Jesus Christ’s command: “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.” (Mark 10:14 ESV)

Discipleship

Jesus last words to His followers were a command. Those words are for us today! The calling of all believers in Jesus Christ is to be disciples and/or to make disciples. Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:18, 19, emphasis mine) TEC, UK has not failed to notice, like probably most of you, that somehow the church is failing to live up to that calling. Most of the local churches and evangelistic events are focusing on making Converts instead of making Disciples. A convert is a person that has received the Holy Spirit, touched by the power of God yet he/she has never placed him/herself in a position to learn and acquire a new Christ-like approach towards life. A disciple is simply a student, but contrary to what most of us think, a student not focused on a simple acquisition of new information, rather a new lifestyle based on Christ-centred awareness. The impartation and the acquisition of this new Christ-centred life is not something that comes automatically by just simply going to church, or to an evangelistic meeting once a month or even once a week. Quite the contrary, the Apostle Paul described it a very difficult and painful process – like having a child - that requires a lot of time and patience from both the disciple and the discipler (teacher). In Galatians 4:19, Paul is saying: “My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of child-birth until Christ is formed in you…” TEC, UK deeply believes we all should be actively involved in reaching out to the unbelieving world and in making converts yet that the true fulfilment of Jesus Christ’s Great Commision lies in the impartation of Christ-like behaviour in all new believers. project 5

Deliverance

Most Christians do not understand the true meaning of deliverance even though they claim they do. Very often they associate deliverance with drug and sex addicts, prostitutes and alcoholics, and so forth, what we will, in jest, call “the decay of western society”. This belief is a serious misconception that has swindled many Christians, but they are ignorant of it. Yes, it is true that those addicted to drugs are in need of help, but it’s not only them who need deliverance. Everybody, Christians included, needs deliverance in one form or another if they are willing and truthful enough with themselves to look beyond the formal facade of “Christian” behaviour that is so far detached from reality it seems absurd sometimes. No wonder unbelievers on the outside, looking in, tend to think of Christians as weird and self-deceived. What then is deliverance? Deliverance is the effective setting free or enablement of a captive backed by power and authority in the Name of Jesus. What this statement means is this: The setting free is effective and is applied at one’s will with the assurance of the power that we have in Christ that will bring about miracles to accomplish the specified desire. Confusing? For example, one can be promiscuous and unable to leave sexual vices despite his/her sincere efforts. Many Christians will pray and ask God to help them to overcome these sexual sins, but despite their prayers, it will seem that God doesn’t exist or is not answering. Even if the person is a Christian who sincerely believes, his efforts and prayers seem to bear no results. At this point they might give up on God and fall away from the faith and start believing that God doesn’t exist, a phenomenon called backsliding. Even if the person remains sincere to the faith, such a person will still endure great hardship and affliction from Satan, because of his/her inability to walk in holiness in that area, but will tend to think it’s normal, part of the Christian life or even think that God is testing them. Other possible examples could be: debt, rejection, divorce, untimely death, poverty, failure in life, stealing, lying, lust, bitterness, gossiping, religiosity (a form of godliness), singleness (inability to get married), wandering, sickness, illness, manipulation, intimidation, domination, control, rebelliousness, rejection, insanity, barrenness, continual miscarriages, addictions and disorderliness. This is not an exhaustive list, however, as there are too many to mention here. This fallacy that God is testing them or is part of the Christian walk, is a common misconception and what they are not aware of is that Satan has full legal access to the lives of people, including Christians, that haven’t completely dealt with and removed the root cause of the problem. To continue with our example of promiscuity and expand further: the Christian person might have been sexually abused as a young child before accepting Christ. This opened a spiritual door in this young person that has to be closed. You might wonder and say, “but now that I know Christ, I am a new creation”. Yes, that is true, and God, through the blood of His Son, has forgiven you for your past and your sins, but the spiritual doors you opened through disobedience or through emotional and physical abuse, you now have to close spiritually, one at a time, and this is done through deliverance. The whole Bible speaks of deliverance, so it is not a new thing, just something the Body of Christ has left by the wayside through the ages. Jesus said: “In my Name they shall cast out evil spirits.” (Mark 16:17) Deliverance involves specific repentance of every sin, using the Word of God, the Name of Jesus Christ, and the precious blood of Jesus, to wage a battle on evil spirits hiding behind strongholds. Strongholds are spiritual fortresses behind which demons hide, and they are made out of misconceptions, wrong understanding of the Word of God and unbiblical thoughts. Using the Word of God, we are called to dismantle the stronghold and then directly engage in a spiritual battle against the demonic spirits that have held the person captive. This generally happens with manifestations, depending on the individual. Manifestations can be mild, such as, yawning, heavy breathing, burping, grunting, and coughing or strong, like vomiting and shouting. For years Christians in churches endure sermons after sermons hoping to apply a new teaching to better their lives with God, which are fruitless and often can be called motivational speeches, whereas they, simply put, need deliverance. In The Emmanuel Church, UK , we firmly believe in deliverance and encourage all believers to wage a spiritual fight for their spiritual freedom. Deliverance involves “healing the broken-hearted, proclaiming liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are spiritually bound” (Isaiah 61:1 paraphrased). If you are struggling with anything mentioned in our list above, after years of being a Christian, take a moment and ask yourself if it could possibly be a sign of an evil spirit that has to be cast out of your life. If your answer is “yes” or “possibly”, why not take the time to visit us, and see how the power of the Holy Spirit can change your life around! We have a dedicated team of deliverance ministers, including the Pastor, who will take the time to minister to your needs, as well as help you to be loosed from spiritual bondages.

project 6

Worship

Worship is a very important ministry in The Emmanuel Church, UK (TEC, UK) with the aim to usher the people into the presence of God by honouring and reverencing Him in the song and the dance. Expressions of love to God by the whole congregation are one of the main keys in ensuring a successful and effective church service. “And David said to the entire congregation, now bless the LORD your God. And the entire congregation blessed the LORD God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads, and worshipped the LORD and the king.” (1 Chronicles 29:20) With the help of the Holy Spirit, our mission for the day, as the worship team is to help the congregation move from a carnal attitude into the spiritual realm experiencing the glory, the presence and the manifestation of God’s power. “God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24) The Worship Team currently consists of singers, and we play the following instruments: a guitar, the drums, the piano, the tambourines, bongos, congas and maracas, and the team is continually growing. Our worship style has a distinct European flavour, which is compatible with the vision that God has given our church, and that is to reach out to people of all European backgrounds. Our songs are sung in English, Russian and we have recently introduced Italian. We believe that vibrant worship and expressions of freedom are essential in getting the best out of worship and we encourage the congregation to get out of the comfort of their chairs and use all areas of the church to dance and enjoy the gift of worship that God has given us through His Son Jesus Christ. “Miriam the prophetess, Aaron's sister, took the tambourine in her hand, and all the women went out after her with tambourines and with dancing.” (Exodus 15:20) “And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.” (2 Samuel 6:14) Our overall vision is to have more musicians playing a variety of instruments and to be in a position where we are writing and singing our own songs and leading an ever-increasing assembly of end-time soldiers into the battle for souls throughout the UK and the European Union and the World. BELIEFS

Mission Statement

The Emmanuel Church, UK (TEC, UK) is a Christian Ministry called to preach the Good News of Jesus Christ, with the demonstration of Holy Spirit power. TEC, UK's work is to bring salvation, spiritual freedom and healing into the lives of people, by making them disciples of Jesus Christ. TEC, UK recognises, in the Church of God, the need for the power of the Holy Spirit to replace worthless religious practices, which have crippled end-time Christianity. TEC, UK works in partnership with ministries that share the same calling. 1 Corinthians 2: 2-5 “For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” (NKJV) The Emmanuel Church, UK

Statement of Faith

We believe in: The one true God who lives eternally in three persons, indivisible – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The perfect love, grace and sovereignty of God in creating, sustaining, ruling, redeeming and judging the world. God is omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent and infinite, yet personal and active today in fullness of power. The divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, which are the written Word of God - fully trustworthy for faith and conduct. The dignity of all people, made male and female in God’s image to love, be holy and care for creation, yet corrupted by sin, which incurs divine wrath and judgement. Sin further results in the inability of man to attain to righteousness apart from Jesus Christ. The incarnation and deity of God’s eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ – born of the virgin Mary, fully God and fully man, yet without sin. The atoning sacrifice and death of Jesus Christ on the cross through His shed blood: dying in our place, paying the price of sin and defeating Satan, and evil forces and principalities, so reconciling us with God. The bodily resurrection on the third day of Jesus Christ, the first fruits of our resurrection and the personal appearance to His disciples; His ascension to the right hand side of the Father, and His reign and mediation as the only Saviour of the world. The justification of all sinners solely by the grace of God through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ at Calvary. The ministry of and regeneration by God the Holy Spirit, who leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ through new birth, empowers our discipleship and enables our godly life and our witness. The water baptism as a confession of faith made by the new believer before the congregation. The Lord’s Supper, which is done in remembrance of the death and the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Church, the body of Christ both local and universal, the priesthood and spiritual unity of all believers, which is given life by the Spirit, and endowed with the Spirit’s gifts to worship God and proclaim the gospel, promoting justice and love. The personal, bodily and visible return in power and glory of Jesus Christ to fulfil the purposes of God, who will raise both the saved and the lost to judgement, bringing eternal life and rest to the redeemed and eternal condemnation to the lost, and establish a new heaven and new earth.
